On March 3, Klein Collins lost to the Willis Wildcats 7-2 in a 5 inning game at the Barber’s Hill tournament.
That was the last time the Lady Tigers lost. Losing does not come easy to Collins, as their only other defeats this season came at the hands of perennial powerhouses Katy and Kingwood.
Undefeated in district, the Lady Tigers have averaged 9.4 runs per game on the strength of a .463 team batting average. No player on the team with at least 30 plate appearances is hitting under .280.
In the circle, Collins has relied on junior pitcher and UT Arlington commit Kenedy Hines as the starting pitcher and ace of the staff. Hines has not suffered a loss this season while pitching to a miniscule 1.25 ERA.
Having reached the state quarterfinals last season, expectations are high for the Lady Tigers as they start to advance in the state playoffs. On Thursday they take their game to A&M Consolidated in College Station for the 6A Region II UIL Area round matchup against the Round Rock Lady Dragons.
