Frederick leads Willowridge past Aldine, 14-7

HOUSTON – Vaughnte Frederick rushed and passed for a touchdown in his debut and Willowridge beat Aldine 14-7 on Thursday night at Thorne Stadium.

The Eagles (1-0) pieced together an opening nine-play, 68-yard drive, capped off with a three-yard touchdown run by Frederick. The sophomore made his first varsity start on Thursday.

In the third quarter, Frederick hit Chris Shaw on a screen pass who then took it 75 yards to the house for the score making it 14-0.

Frederick finished with 16 carries for 60 yards and a score, while going 3 of 4 for 82 yards and a score.

With just 38 seconds left in the game, Aldine (0-1) responded.

Jacorey Howard, who finished 2 of 8 for 92 yards with a score and 11 carries for 40 yards, hit Joshawn Bates in stride for an 82-yard strike.

Limited time remaining, Aldine attempted an on-side kick. The Mustangs recovered the kick but it was ruled illegally touched, giving the ball and the victory to the Eagles.
