North Shore Football receives their rings

The day has finally arrived. The North Shore Mustangs just received their 2015 6A Division 1 championship rings. It was an exciting atmosphere as the boys reflected on their journey which led them to this day. They especially remembered the final game at NRG Stadium in which they defeated the Westake Chapparels 21-14 in OT.

A 1991 graduate and current school board president Joe Stephens admitted that he’d give his right arm to go back and accomplish what the boys did. “It is a tremendous honor to be able to give these kids what they earned,” he said.

North Shore was led by coach Jon Kay whom had previously been on the coaching staff for the Mustangs when they won the title in the early 2000s. He says that this title meant a lot more now that he was the head coach but that they were both still special to him. North Shore went through Dobie, Clear Springs, Cy Falls, Dickinson, Judson, and Westlake in the playoffs to grab their championship.

“They’ll look back on this in 20 years and the friendships that they established from this championship will be something to cherish the rest of their lives,” Stephens added.
