Pearland, TX — The Pearland Oilers began their season with a 41-20 victory over College Park on Thursday night at the Rig. The Oilers found themselves trailing at the end of the first half 13-12. They briefly retook the lead 19-13 after Cody Williams ran 73-yards for a TD from a Jacob Whitehead pass until College Park once again scored from a 17-yard TD run from AJ Saunders with 4:36 left in the 3rd quarter. Pearland immediately responded. Davier Pinkston ran the ball 76 yards and gave Pearland a 25-20 lead, which they never relinquished.
Jacob Whitehead was 6 for 11 with 2 TDs. Davier Pinkston rushed for 133 yards on 1o carries and scored a TD. Cody Williams had 4 receptions for 91 yards and scored a TD. Pearland outscored College Park 29-7 in the second half. Their next game is September 4th at 7pm vs Spring Branch Memorial at Tully Stadium.
