Huffman dominates 23-4A All-District selections

As expected, the 4A state champion Huffman Lady Falcons dominated the District 23-4A All-District selections. Head coach Latonya Dorsey named 23-4A Coach of the Year will have 7 of her 15 all-district slots manned by Lady Falcons players.

Huffman began their first team selections with catcher Loren Dempsey sharing District 23-4A MVP honors with Kaitlyn Slack of Liberty. Sophomore Kylie George took the Offensive MVP hardware.

The pitching staff is all Huffman as Savanna Cates who pitched the Lady Falcons passed former state champion La Grange and Snyder teams up with Megan Unroe who pitched six scoreless innings in the state championship game to earn the win for first team district pitching accolades.

Around the infield, Huffman second baseman Megan Mitchell is supported by three fourths of the Liberty Lady Panther infield including Kurstin Martin at first, Katie Harris at third and sophomore Camryn Parker at shortstop. Baylee Rouse of Tarkington is behind the plate.

The four first team outfield selections include Lady Falcons Madi O’Neal and Demi Janak along with Liberty’s Andee Geter and Splendora’s Ashley Davis.

Splendora Wildcats’ sophomore Nanushka Garcia joined Davis on the first team being named Newcomer of the Year. Coldspring’s Tiffany Huff was the first team utility player.

Second team selections included pitchers Lacey Vaughn of Liberty and Ashley May of Cleveland. Up the middle Splendora’s freshman backstop Savanna Parker was named to handle the second team catching duties. Shepherd’s Dirshti Dalwadi at first and Tarkington freshman Mackenzie Tayler at third are on the corners. Shaydee Pollard of Splendora and shortstop Kerry Kirchner of Shepherd were tagged as the second team double combination. The outfield features Shanna Wolf of Tarkington, sophomore Madisyn Fazier of Liberty and Brianna McMillican of Splendora. Taylor Kelly of Coldspring is the second team utility player.
