Atascocita High School

District 15-6A and 16-6A Area Meet

Teams from Districts 15 and 16-6A gathered at Turner Stadium for the 2015 Area Meet, late last week. Much like the District 16-6A Meet, The Woodlands Boys (104 pts.) and Girls (87 pts.) took home gold.

The Atascocita boys finished in 4th place with a total of 77 points. Contributing 18 of those 77 points were Derek Williams and Trey Evans, who placed 1st and 2nd in the High Jump. Giving the Eagles another 18 points were Jace Comick (1st in 200M) and Quan Shorts (2nd in the 100M). The 4x100M Relay finished 2nd and the 4x200M finished 1st. The Eagle boys broke numerous school records including Quan Shorts in the 100M (10.73) and the 4×200 relay (1:26.05). The Lady Eagles finished in 13th place with a total of 20 points.

The Mustang boys of Kingwood High School tied for Area Runner-Up with a total of 81 points. Leading the way for the Mustangs was the 4x400M relay team who took home 20 points with their 1st place finish (3:12.86). Steven Johnson captured 3rd in the Shot-Put, Charles Mills scored in the 1600M and 3200M runs (3rd and 4th), Myles Marshall won the 800M and captured silver in the 400M, DeWitt Thomas placed 3rd in the 110M Hurdles and 4th in the 300M hurdles. Kingwood’s Lady Mustangs placed 5th with 50 points. Abby Guidry took home 2 gold medals for her performances in the 3200M and 1600M runs. Brianna Nolen finished 2nd in the 800M.

The Summer Creek boys tied with Kingwood for the title of Area Runner-Up, both schools knotted at 81 points a piece. Cam White finished 2nd in the 800M and Chase Bryant finished 2nd in the Long Jump. Damian O’Neal, Kristropher Allison, and Jokerious Code swept the podium in the 300M Hurdles; O’Neal also placed 1st in the 110M Hurdles. The 4x100M relay team finished 4th and the 4x400M team finished 2nd with a time of 3:14.68. The Lady Bulldogs finished in 2nd with 74 points. Bryanah Rideaux and Angelica Jacobs took home the gold in the 400M and 800M Dash’s. The 4x100M finished 4th, 4x200M finished 2nd, and the 4x400M team finished 1st with a time of 3:47.49.
